[Jan. 18th, 2007|10:36 pm] |
i have a headache today. that's not so unusual. but it gives one perspective.
one thing is, i am convinced that i am delusional. in a very many ways. the things i do, down to the people i think i know, are more or less constructions of a deviant mind. one more thing is, i am convinced that i am myself part of this deception. and for that, i apologize. should anyone come upon this, and i'm not sure how many will, please rest assured that i am not myself.
whatever. it's clear by now that i'm writing this by myself, for myself, and it's crummy. being alone is crummy, but now it's pretty much a constant. i'm bored with me. hopefully i won't see me for some time. |

| | turn on your lovelight- grateful dead | ] | So! Haven't posted in too long a time. Things of interest:
- School is both boring AND frustrating! A 2-for-1 deal! - I'm officially #6 in my class - The food-service company that has recently started working in our cafeteria turns out to be supremely sketchy! Could this mean poor food choices, district mismanagement, even embezzlement? Watch as I track down this story for our newspaper which less than half the student body will ever read! |

[Sep. 27th, 2006|09:34 pm] |
| [ | feelin' kinda |
| | flabbergasted | ] | what. a. day.
a) when i got into school today i spoke to my english teacher, who told me "well, for the 4 positions in the english honor society exactly 5 people applied. so, seeing that there's no reason to hold an election, the 5 of you should just talk it out." and we did, resulting in...me being president of the english honor society.
b) fourth period i had a meeting with guidance regarding college. after the end of said period i made haste to photo class when i encountered a large knot of people crowding the hallway, blocking my way and my view. apparently, i missed the most insane catfight so far this year. the details: two on one, the two being hispanic twins. the whole thing was sparked by a spilled coffee, and included hair pulling, ripped jewelery and a head being repeatedly slammed into a locker. after the crowd moved on all i could see was blood, hair and beads.
c) at the newspaper we recieved a letter from planned parenthood, offering to buy an ad in each issue for the whole year. in the past we've recieved a similar request, but now that we have a new principal there's a slight chance we'll be allowed to run it.
d) THE ABSOLUTE CRAZIEST THING TODAY: I'd rather not pontificate on this, but: ( this man taught me! ) |

| | factory girl- the rolling stones | ] | L'shana tovah y'all! Especially now that Corey Maye is no longer on death row.
If you're wondering who I'm talking about, Corey Maye is a black Mississippian who was sentenced to death for killing a (white) policeman who broke into his home unannounced in the middle of the night, heading a SWAT team looking for drugs on unverified information. For a more full explanation of the story, check out this story which was instrumental in getting this case known. It's an indication of our country's f-ed up legal system that Maye will ony get a new sentencing trial, but at least his daughter won't be an orphan anytime soon.
look to the icon, folks. i'm making it my new year's resolution: remind everyone just how much war sucks for the little ones. |

but perhaps you didn't know: apparently I scored high enough on the PSATs to be in the running for a National Merit Scholarship. (I'm a semi-finalist now). In order to become a finalist and maybe get some money, I have to send in an application, along with an essay of about 500 words. SO, i'd like you all to look at and thoughtfully consider this essay, essentially: "What sets you apart?"
Also, i gotta give it to the school tommorrow, so don't be too harsh and make me stay up all night re-writeing it, hm?

but i can't be too unhappy. firstly, it's friday. secondly, tommorrow i'm gonna see my beloved ctyers. and three, which only hit me moments ago in its awesomeness when i dusted off my copy of live at leeds, I'M GOING TO SEE THE MOTHERHUMPING WHO ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, BIATCHES.
thank you soooooo much briar. less than three! :) |

The rose is obsolete but each petal ends in an edge, the double facet cementing the grooved columns of air--The edge cuts without cutting meets--nothing--renews itself in metal or porcelain--
whither? It ends--
But if it ends the start is begun so that to engage roses becomes a geometry--
Sharper, neater, more cutting figured in majolica-- the broken plate glazed with a rose
Somewhere the sense makes copper roses steel roses--
The rose carried weight of love but love is at an end--of roses
It is at the edge of the petal that love waits
Crisp, worked to defeat laboredness--fragile plucked, moist, half-raised cold, precise, touching

From the petal's edge a line starts that being of steel infinitely fine, infinitely rigid penetrates the Milky Way without contact--lifting from it--neither hanging nor pushing--
The fragility of the flower unbruised penetrates space
